Madison is a great place to have a wonderful shopping experience. There are small, specialty shops and huge shopping malls that have movie theaters inside of the malls. These mall theaters have many screens and a huge selection of movies to watch. The food court areas inside of the shopping malls carry a wide selection for almost any taste. The individual food court restaurants are to the highest standards. There are also a variety of department stores in Madison to cater to any preference. There are several art galleries in the City of Madison and surrounding areas. The Lake Mendota area offers many types of recreation. There are jogging paths which continue all the way around the lake for those who wish to walk or run to take in the changing of the fall leaves or the spring plants and trees blooming. The summer months offer swimming at beaches on Lake Mendota, as well as boating, fishing, water sports and even paddle boats for rent. The winter months on Lake Mendota offer ice fishing and ice skating. Madison also offers ice rinks for figure skating as well as playing hockey. Rollerskating around Lake Mendota and other areas, as well as roller skating rinks are available. There are many different golf courses and country clubs in the city of Madison Wisconsin. There are also many snow skiing resorts in the Madison Wisconsin area. The Madison area is also a perfect area for cross country skiing as well as downhill skiing. There are a variety of museums in the City of Madison. Madison has a State History Museum, a Children's Museum, the UW-Madison Geology Museum, Wisconsin Veteran's Museum, Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Chazen Museum of Art at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Wisconsin Historical Museum, and the Olbrich Botanical Gardens.
